Eichornia Diversifolia is one of our all time favorite species here and was also one of the first high tech plants we ever tried! It has a very unique shape with long thin leaves and looks somewhat similar to Stargrass, but is larger.
One really interesting thing unique to solely Eichornia is that when it becomes unhappy with its tank conditions, leaves turn jet black/deep purple in color which caught us off guard here when we first started keeping plants! It’s pretty cool, but isn’t a good sign. Usually any parts of the plant that turn this color will die and need to be trimmed.
growth rate is moderate and it is a reasonably undemanding species when kept in high tech conditions. it grows well in low tech conditions as well, but we have found it to be a bit picky and can’t figure out what exactly is causing it to do better in some setups than others.
